About Sanman Thapa

Sanman Thapa is a Nepali-American author and National Certified School Counselor (NCSC) dedicated to empowering youth, building inclusive spaces, and amplifying underrepresented voices. A seasoned educator fluent in English and Nepali, he specializes in guiding students through academic challenges, social-emotional development, and cultural transitions.

His debut memoir, A Fight for a Cup of Chai, draws from his lived experiences as a factory worker in 1990s Kathmandu. The book tells the gripping story of young laborers who risked everything for dignity, solidarity, and a voice in the face of exploitation. Sanman’s writing captures the human cost of injustice—while honoring the quiet strength that drives collective change.

Now based in New York, Sanman continues to advocate for immigrant families and underserved communities. His blog explores themes of self-reflection, parenting, healing, and cross-cultural identity—with honesty, vulnerability, and purpose.

When he's not writing or counseling, Sanman enjoys spending time with his son Aiden, revisiting his roots in Nepal, and drinking (of course) a strong cup of chai.
