About Sanman Thapa | Author | Counselor | Storyteller

Sanman Thapa is an author, educator, and National Board Certified School Counselor based in New York. His writing explores themes of resilience, migration, labor, and the quiet moments that shape human dignity.

His debut memoir, A Fight for a Cup of Chai, traces a childhood shaped by labor, loss, and survival in Nepal—carried by an enduring search for dignity and hope. Through his work, Thapa connects personal narrative to global labor histories, migration, and questions of human dignity.

He is also the author of From the Window: The City of What-Ifs, a reflective novel set in 1990s Kathmandu that examines observation, distance, and the moment when witnessing becomes responsibility.

In addition to his writing, Thapa works with students in New York, supporting their social and emotional development while encouraging storytelling as a tool for understanding self and society. He is currently working on his next memoir, continuing his exploration of family, migration, and the immigrant experience.
